Why do Celebs Keep Getting Arrested for DUI Offenses?

Most people find it extremely hard to understand why anybody would drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The huge number of celebs that get reported for DUI offenses is alarming, and surely if you have so much money at your disposal you can afford an Uber, right? In fact, most of these people have an entourage of paid help that they should be calling upon to drive them home after a wild night out. Yet, for some reason, a large number of people in the general public and high profile celebs alike make the decision to get behind the wheel when they are in no fit state to drive.

By fit state, we are of course talking about the legal limit (80mg per 100ml blood). Calculating whether you are legally fit to drive is not straight-forward, and there are some cases where people claim they ate food that had alcohol in and were not aware of it. However, if you are choosing to consume alcohol knowingly, then you should leave the car at home or pick it up the next day – it’s not rocket science!

Let’s take a look at some of the big celebs that have made a mistake and ended up in trouble with the police for DUIoffenses:

Paris Hilton – Back in 2006, she was pulled over by police, and she hit the minimum level required for a DUI arrest in the state of California. Afterwards, she didn’t exactly show remorse, stating that ‘everything I do is blown out of proportion and it really hurts my feelings.’

Lindsay Lohan – Lindsay is no stranger to the law, and in 2007 she got a DUI with some extraordinary circumstances. She was in a car accident and charged with DUI, possession of cocaine and misdemeanor hit and run. As well as these driving-related issues, she was caught shoplifting and had a further driving charge in 2012.

Justin Beiber – When you’re one of the biggest singers in the world it is hard to stay under the radar, and Beibercertainly knows that feeling. He probably should have known he wasn’t going to get away with DUI in 2014 in Miami Beach. Police informed the press that he had admitted to smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and taken Xanax.

There are so many other high profile cases from Mel Gibson, Reese Wetherspoon, Mike Tyson… the list is endless. Of course, non-celebrities are getting arrested all of the time as well, but at least they have the excuse of not being able to afford a personal driver!

On a serious note, your income doesn’t make it any worse or any better to be charged with DUI it just makes it harder for some to understand why celebs do it. Is it because they feel above the law? Is it because they know they can afford the best DUI Lawyers? Who knows, but what we do know is that they just need to stop doing it.
