In 2013, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs released a study that covered suicides from 1999 to 2010, which showed that roughly 22 veterans were dying by suicide per day, or one every 65 minutes. Please contact the Georgia Crisis and Access Line if you feel suicidal or need someone to talk to at 1-800-715-4225 or myself and I would be happy to assist you and get you some help. Having graduated and working as a mental health Certified Peer Specialist these rates are alarming. Help a Veteran today. May in National Mental Health Awareness Month and you can make a difference in someones life. Taking up my Flag today in honor and salute to the fallen, the brave, the courageous. All of whom fought for my freedom to raise a Flag. Giving of their tireless sweat, blood and tears so that we may all celebrate Memorial Day weekend. It is a lot more that the lake and BBQ and grill outs. II hope you took up your Flag this holiday weekend. In remembrance of the fallen that gave effortlessly and tirelessly as they went to battle for our country and our freedoms. It is an honor to take up my Flag today honoring those who have so gallantly served for me and you. I hope that your holiday weekend was full of family, love and laughter but I also hope you do not forge to take up your Flag in honor. As I am able to blog and write from the comforts of my own bed tonight I am pleased and it is well with my soul. I thank the fallen and the survivors of the thousands of soldiers who provide me with the ability and capability to have freedom, peace, peace of mind and the pursuit of happiness every day of my life. I have really enjoyed all the cook out and swimming photos. Actually ready to hit the lake myself. I would like to go kayaking in my very near future. May your journey be blessed and your soul be on fire for the Lord and our Troops in our grand Armed Forces. Take up your Flag today.
